Regular Season Round 17: Torun - MKS DG 84-69

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Twarde Pierniki (13-5) beat 11th ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (8-10) in Torun 84-69. The game was mostly controlled by Twarde Pierniki. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Twarde Pierniki brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and Ukrainian power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. The former international Piotr Pamula (195-90) responded with 18 points and American power forward Sam Dower (206-90, college: Gonzaga) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to third place, which they share with Anwil. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Twarde Pierniki will play against Asseco (#7) in Gdynia in the next round. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play on the road against Trefl (#15) in Sopot and hopes to get back on the winning track.
