Regular Season Round 15: Vigren - Grupo Inec Z. 74-73

A very interesting game took place in Zamora. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Grupo Inec Z. (7-3) to fifth ranked Vigren (7-3) 74-73 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Grupo Inec Z.. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 21-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Vigren forced 20 Grupo Inec Z. turnovers. It was a good game for British Matthew Don (201-93, college: Cameron) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Reed Mells (180-93, college: Truman St.) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five Vigren players scored in double figures. Vigren's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Australian center James Hunter (208-91, college: S.Dakota) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Grupo Inec Z.The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Vigren. They moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with defeated Grupo Inec Z. Vigren's next round opponent will be Gijon (#9) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Grupo Inec Z. will play against the league's second-placed Mieres BVM (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
