Very expected game in Ciudad Juarez where 10th ranked Ciudad (8-22) was defeated by third ranked Fuerza Regia (18-11) 100-95 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Fuerza Regia's coach Jose Martinez Boglio used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) who recorded 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 18-11 record having twelve points less than leader Soles. Newly promoted Ciudad keeps the tenth position with 22 games lost. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ciudad will play again against Fuerza Regia (#3) and hope to secure a win.
