Regular Season Round 26: Utena - Kibirkstis-VICI 77-64

An interesting game for Utena (14-2) which hosted in Utena 3rd ranked Kibirkstis-VICI (12-4). Second ranked Utena managed to get a 13-point victory 77-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kibirkstis-VICI. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 13 points. Utena forced 21 Kibirkstis-VICI turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Utena made 7 blocks. Point guard Rita Milieskiene (175-78) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Egle Sniokaite (175-88) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and international Laura Juskaite (187-97) added 14 points in the effort for Kibirkstis-VICI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Utena have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva. Kibirkstis-VICI at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Utena is looking forward to face Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#4) on the road in the next round. Kibirkstis-VICI will play against the league's leader Suduva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
