Second Stage Round 3: Aishin AW - Hitachi Cougars 62-56

Rather predictable result in Anjo where Aishin Wings (3-0) defeated Hitachi Cougars (0-3) 62-56. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 14-6 Hitachi Cougars' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 62-56 at the end of the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Sato Shuhana (160-90) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Guard Aya Tsurumi (164-92) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Yuki Toyama (176-91) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Hitachi Cougars in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Wings will play against Mitsubishi K. (#8) in Nagoya in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play at home against Toyota B SR and look forward to get finally their first victory.
