Very expected game in Gilet where 9th ranked Sagunto (3-12) was defeated by first ranked Gandia Basquet (14-1) 68-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gandia Basquet. Sagunto was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gandia Basquet forced 20 Sagunto turnovers. Naturalized American center Shalawn Miller (205-74, college: Mass.-Lowell) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Fitzgerald White (201-91, college: Union, KY) chipped in 19 points. Center Jose Beltran (205-92) produced 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Raul Llacer (199-90) added 9 points respectively for lost side. Sagunto's coach let to play twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Gandia Basquet have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group E with 14-1 record. Newly promoted Sagunto keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Gandia Basquet will face UCAM Murcia II (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Sagunto will play against Valencia-2 and hope to win that game.
