Regular Season Round 16: Alcazar - Alcobendas 91-78

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Alcazar (9-4) defeated at home 9th ranked Alcobendas (5-8) 91-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alcazar. Alcobendas was better in third quarter 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alcazar dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Alcobendas' 36 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Alcobendas 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Forward Ignacio Diaz (200-87) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists. Four Alcazar players scored in double figures. Center Jose Maria Gil (207-91) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Daniel Trachsel (202-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcazar maintains third position in Group B with 9-4 record having ten points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Loser Alcobendas dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. Alcazar will face Azuqueca (#5) at home in the next round. Alcobendas will play against Estudiantes B (#13) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
