Regular Season Round 15: Souffel - Vichy Clermont 70-68

A very close game took place in Souffelweyersheim between Souffelweyersheim and JA Vichy. Seventh ranked Souffelweyersheim (8-7) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked JA Vichy (7-8). Souffelweyersheim managed to escape with a 2-point win 70-68 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of JA Vichy. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But JA Vichy won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Mali swingman Sourata Cisse (196-86) who led the winners and scored 16 points. Naturalized Mali power forward Nianta Diarra (205-93) accounted for 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Souffelweyersheim's coach Stephane Eberlin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists and the other American import swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP, agency: HMS) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for JA Vichy in the defeat. Five JA Vichy players scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted JA Vichy dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Souffelweyersheim will meet Nantes (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. JA Vichy will play against Chorale de Roanne (#17) and hope to secure a win.
