Second Stage Round 3: Mitsubishi K. - Niigata R. 84-67

Not a big story in a game in Nagoya where Niigata R. (0-3) was defeated by Mitsubishi K. (2-1) 84-67. The game without a history. Mitsubishi K. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 40. They outrebounded Niigata R. 65-34 including a 27-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international center Asako Oh (189-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) accounted for 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. Mitsubishi K.'s coach Yuuki Yamashita used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Mei Chi (175-90) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) added 12 points respectively for Niigata R. in the defeat. Mitsubishi K. will play against Aishin Wings (#6) in Anjo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata R.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Haneda Vickies.
