Regular Season Round 15: Toyota Alvark - Hokkaido L. 93-69

NBL top team - Toyota Alvark (23-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Hokkaido L. (13-16) in Tokyo 93-69. It looked good early as Hokkaido L. took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota Alvark had a 22-13 second period charge getting the lead and Hokkaido L. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-93. Toyota Alvark shot 64.3 percent from the field. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 31-16 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Toyota Alvark especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (191-84) chipped in 12 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 31 points and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) added 9 points and 7 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They maintain first place with 23-4 record. Hokkaido L. lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be Nishinomiya S. (#11) in Hyogo and are hoping to win another game. Hokkaido L. will play at home against Toshiba Thunders (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
