We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eleventh ranked Rio Claro (8-12) defeated at home 10th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-12) 67-63. Sao Jose/Vinac was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 36-28 second half run of Rio Claro. The winners were led by the former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) who scored that evening 23 points and point guard Eric Romualdo (185-83) supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Rio Claro's coach Dede Barbosa used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 8 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) did not help to save the game for Sao Jose/Vinac. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) added 19 points for the guests. Rio Claro moved-up to tenth place. Sao Jose/Vinac at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Rio Claro's next round opponent will be higher ranked Mogi (#6) in Mogi das Cruzes and it may be quite challenging game.
