Regular Season Round 8: Hoops - Homenetmen 93-81

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Beirut: Hoops Club (#3) and Homenetmen (#2). Hoops Club (5-2) won against visiting Homenetmen (5-2) 93-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Homenetmen. They outrebounded Homenetmen 52-27 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hoops Club players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Homenetmen was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds. The former international swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 31 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Hoops Club's coach Patrick Saba allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Justin Tubbs (190-87, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Homenetmen. Hoops Club have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Homenetmen. Hoops Club will play against Al Moutahed (#4) in Tripoli in the next round. Homenetmen will play against Tadamon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
