Second Stage Round 5: Perlas-MRU - Telsiai 82-70

There was no surprise in Vilnius where 7th ranked Telsiai (14-17) was defeated by fifth ranked Perlas-MRU (18-13) 82-70 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Perlas-MRU. Telsiai was better in third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perlas-MRU forced 25 Telsiai turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Arnas Berucka (196-97) who scored 17 points. Forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Guard Laurynas Kaveckis (190-90) produced 18 points and point guard Elvinas Gintvainis (183-92) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Perlas-MRU moved-up to fourth place. Telsiai lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with 17 games lost. Perlas-MRU will face league's second-placed Vytis in Sakiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
