Regular Season Round 35: Shiga L-Stars - Oita H.Devils 84-83

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (20-9) edged at home 11th ranked Oita Heat Devils (7-20) 84-83 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 36-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shiga L-Stars made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Shiga L-Stars had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Yu Okada (184-83) helped adding 22 points. Shiga L-Stars' coach Tohyama Kohto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyama Grouses and Akita NH. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the eleventh position with 20 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face again Oita Heat Devils (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
