Regular Season Round 17: Bad Aibling - Rhein MB 94-54

An interesting game for Fireballs (17-0) which hosted in Bad Aibling 4th placed Rhein Main Baskets (9-8). Leader Fireballs had an easy win 94-54. The game without a history. Fireballs led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Rhein Main Baskets' 22 and made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game, while Rhein Main Baskets only scored eight points from the stripe. Fireballs forced 21 Rhein Main Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. American guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) nailed 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Slovenian guard Eva Rupnik (177-92) accounted for 18 points. Fireballs' coach Oliver Schmid felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) came up with 10 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Anh-Dao Tran (168, college: Adelphi) added 12 points respectively for Rhein Main Baskets in the defeat. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for Fireballs. They maintain first place in South with 17-0 record. Loser Rhein Main Baskets dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Fireballs will meet Weiterstadt (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Homburger TG (#11) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the DBBL just one year after relegation.
