Finals Game 1: CDU Concepcion - CD Valdivia 89-82

CDU Concepcion fired past CD Valdivia in the Liga Nacional Finals opener. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Deportivo Valdivia won second period 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Universidad de Concepcion made 8 blocks. American center Yamene Coleman (208-86, college: Troy) fired 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import forward Tracy Robinson (201-86, college: Loyola, IL) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. Universidad de Concepcion's coach Pablo Ares used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Sebastian Suarez (193-91, college: Portland St.) produced 32 points and American forward Arnold Louis (201-90, college: Savannah St.) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Deportivo Valdivia players scored in double figures.
