Regular Season Round 16: Tsukuba R. - Tochigi Brex 67-88
Date: February 6, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Tsukuba R. (5-26) was rolled over at home by second ranked Tochigi Brex (24-6) 88-67 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-67. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 30. They outrebounded Tsukuba R. 39-27 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) who added 11 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Juan Pattillo (201-88, college: W.Kentucky) responded with 11 points and center Naruhisa Takamura (194-84) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tochigi Brex have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 24-6 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Tsukuba R. lost seventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 26 lost games. Tochigi Brex will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya in the next round where they are favorite. Tsukuba R. will play on the road against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) in Kariya and hope to win that game.
