Regular Season Round 17: Gandia Basquet - UCAM Murcia II 64-60

There was no surprise when 7th ranked UCAM Murcia II (6-10) lost on the road to first ranked Gandia Basquet (15-1) 64-60 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But UCAM Murcia II won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Daniel Marti (203-89, college: Union, TN) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Alexandre Camarena (183-82) contributed with 11 points and 4 assists for the winners. Marti is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Lleon Tillman (198-92, college: W.Alabama) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Juan Rubio (196-95) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for UCAM Murcia II. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gandia Basquet. They maintain first place in Group E with 15-1 record. Loser UCAM Murcia II keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Gandia Basquet will face Cartagena (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UCAM Murcia II will play against Valencia-2 and hope to win that game.
