Regular Season Round 17: Myrtia - Almassera 78-57

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Myrtia (10-5) crushed second-ranked Almassera (12-4) in Murcia 78-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Myrtia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 21 Almassera turnovers. Almassera was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Gomez-Arrones (190-87) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Myrtia players scored in double figures. Forward Jacobo Hofmann (198-92) answered with 10 points and 5 rebounds and forward Vicent Santamatilde (197-94) added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Almassera. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Myrtia. Newly promoted Myrtia maintains fourth place in Group E with 10-5 record. Loser Almassera keeps the second position with four games lost. Myrtia will face Sagunto (#9) in Gilet in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Almassera will play at home against L`Alfas (#6) and hope to win that game.
