Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi SR - Aishin SH 77-85 OT

Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) forced the game against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) into an overtime, but lost by eight points 77-85. The game took place in Tokyo. But the guests from Kariya were better at the end. The guests were tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They eventually won an overtime period 14-6. Aishin Sea Horses made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) added 6 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third position with 21-8 record having four points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Dragonflies (#9) in Hiroshima and hope to win that game.
