Regular Season Round 21: Trier - Gotha 77-76

The most exciting game of round 21 in the ProA took place in Trier. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Oettinger Rockets Gotha (14-7) to seventh ranked Gladiators (12-10) 77-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Oettinger Rockets Gotha. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 21-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Brandon Spearman (190-91, college: Hawaii) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. Forward Marco Voeller (201-89) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Oettinger Rockets Gotha. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gladiators maintains seventh place with 12-10 record. Oettinger Rockets Gotha at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Gladiators are looking forward to face Baunach (#11) on the road in the next round. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against White Wings (#12) in Hanau and is hoping to win this game.
