Regular Season Round 14: PAOK - Panathinaikos 57-49

An interesting game for PAOK (9-5) which hosted in Thessaloniki second-ranked Panathinaikos (10-4). Third ranked PAOK managed to get a 8-point victory 57-49. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panathinaikos won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PAOK dominated on the defensive end, holding Panathinaikos to just 6 points in fourth quarter. American forward Liza Clemons (188-92, college: Purdue, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Nafsika Stavridou (182-86) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. American power forward Diana Delva (188-88, college: Hartford) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Keani Albanez (178, college: Gonzaga) scored 10 points. Panathinaikos' coach Petros Prekas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. PAOK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having five points less than leader Olympiacos Pireus. Panathinaikos at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. PAOK will play against Kronos AD (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Panathinaikos will play against Ippokratis (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
