Very expected game when 9th ranked Estudiantes L. (3-9) was edged by fifth ranked Leon (7-5) in Lugo 80-79 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Estudiantes L. won second period 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leon made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Estudiantes L. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Wykevin Bazemore (193-93, college: Winston Salem) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Diego Mallou (180-94) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Serbian forward Dusan Juzbasic (201-99, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Jose Antonio Lopez (190-96) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Estudiantes L.Five Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Leon maintains fifth place in Group A-B with 7-5 record. Loser Estudiantes L. dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Leon will face league's second-placed Vigren in Zamora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
