Regular Season Round 36: Kyoto Hannar. - Okinawa GK 78-71

Round 36 in BJ League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kyoto where host Kyoto Hannar. (23-7) beat league's leader Okinawa GK (23-9) 78-71 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-71. It was a great shooting night for Kyoto Hannar. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) chipped in 23 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kyoto Hannar. keeps a position of league leader which they share with defeated Okinawa GK. Okinawa GK at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Kyoto Hannar. who have the same record. Okinawa GK will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Kyoto Hannar. will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing on the road.
