Regular Season Round 17: Betanzos - Agustinos-Eras 70-80

Very predictable result when first ranked Agustinos-Eras (11-1) won against on the road 11th ranked Betanzos (2-10) 80-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Agustinos-Eras. Betanzos was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Betanzos was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Dionte Ferguson (198-92, college: S.Alabama) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. Center Sergio Martinez (205-92) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Marcos Rozas (202-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Betanzos. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Agustinos-Eras. They maintain first place in Group A-B with 11-1 record. Loser Betanzos keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Agustinos-Eras will face Chantada (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Betanzos will play against Estudiantes L. (#10) in Lugo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
