Regular Season Round 17: L`Alfas - Paterna 60-63

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Paterna's (8-8) road victory over 6th ranked L`Alfas (6-9) in Alfas Del Pi 63-60 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strangely L`Alfas outrebounded Paterna 45-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. L`Alfas was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Victor Arnau (184-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points. Alberto Valle (186-81) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Iker Benzazoua added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for L`Alfas. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Paterna maintains fifth place in Group E with 8-8 record. L`Alfas lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Paterna will face Benidorm (#8) on the road in the next round. L`Alfas will play against the league's second-placed Almassera in Valencia and hope to win that game.
