Regular Season Round 27: Eidsvoll - Asker Aliens 88-98

Bottom-ranked Eidsvoll (0-18) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 18th consecutive match to eighth ranked Asker Aliens (9-9) 98-88 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Asker Aliens. Eidsvoll managed to win fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asker Aliens looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Asker Aliens made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Latvian forward Alvis Eglitis (195-85) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international guard Espen Stien (186-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 assists. Asker Aliens' coach Rob Knight used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard John Groover (192-87) who recorded 32 points and 8 rebounds and Nigerian-American forward Joseph Nwabuzor (192-85) added 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Baerum Basket and Gimle BBK. Newly promoted Eidsvoll still closes the standings. Asker Aliens will meet at home higher ranked Kongsberg (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eidsvoll will have a break next round.
