Regular Season Round 17: Tochigi Brex - Mitsubishi DD 73-58

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (13-16) were defeated on the road by second ranked Tochigi Brex (25-6) 73-58. The game without a history. Tochigi Brex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mitsubishi Dolphins to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Tochigi Brex players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mitsubishi Dolphins' players. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) accounted for 25 points. Furukawa is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) came up with 8 points and 5 rebounds and guard Taito Nakahigashi (190-92) added 8 points respectively for Mitsubishi Dolphins in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Tochigi Brex. They maintain second place with 25-6 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Mitsubishi Dolphins at the other side keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Tochigi Brex's next round opponent will be again Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya which should be theoretically an easy game.
