Regular Season Round 21: Caen - Angers BC 76-64

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Caen (13-8) won against at home 8th ranked Angers BC (10-11) 76-64. It looked good early as Angers BC took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caen had a 19-17 second period charge getting the lead and Angers BC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-76. They outrebounded Angers BC 42-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Caen players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American Bill Clark (200-88, college: Duquesne) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Marvin Phillips (203-83, college: Claflin) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Romain Hillotte (195-91) who recorded 16 points and 7 assists and swingman Thibaut Lonzieme (195-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Caen have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Caen maintains sixth place with 13-8 record. Angers BC lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Caen's next round opponent will be Vitre (#17) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Angers BC will play against Berck (#15) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
