Regular Season Round 18: Alcobendas - Albacete 95-101

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Albacete (12-3) defeated on the road 9th ranked Alcobendas (6-9) 101-95 on Saturday. Alcobendas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 30-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 95-101 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Alcobendas 38-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Garrett Nevels (188-92, college: Hawaii) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Senegalese center Masine Fall (208-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Center Jose Maria Gil (207-91) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Carlos Arjonilla (178-78) added 25 points in the effort for Alcobendas. Five Albacete and four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Alcobendas' coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Albacete have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 12-3 record, which they share with Quintanar. Loser Alcobendas dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Albacete will face Azuqueca (#5) at home in the next round. Alcobendas will play against Tenerife Naut. in Santa Cruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
