Regular Season Round 18: Hiroshima D. - Hitachi SR 77-84

Date: February 13, 2016
No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (22-11) beat 9th ranked Dragonflies (11-21) in Hiroshima 84-77 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-77. Dragonflies were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toshiba BT. Dragonflies lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 21 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round. Dragonflies will play on the road against Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro and hope to win that game.
