Regular Season Round 18: Naron - Grupo Inec Z. 62-80

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Naron (6-7) lost at home to third ranked Grupo Inec Z. (9-4) 80-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Grupo Inec Z.. Naron was better in second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Naron 42-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Isaiah Tate (192-89, college: George Mason) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Grupo Inec Z.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. British-American forward Steve Forbes (206-91, college: IPFW) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Alberto Seco (181-89) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Naron. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Grupo Inec Z. maintains third position in Group A-B with 9-4 record having fourteen points less than leader L'Hospitalet, which they share with Mieres BVM. Naron lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Grupo Inec Z. will face Chantada (#7) at home in the next round. Naron will play against Gijon and hope to win that game.
