Regular Season Round 18: Toyota Alvark - Tsukuba R. 88-55

Very expected game when 12th ranked Tsukuba R. (5-29) was smashed by first ranked Toyota Alvark (28-4) in Tokyo 88-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Tsukuba R. was better in fourth quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tsukuba R. to just 7 points in first and second quarters and to 14 points in first half. They outrebounded Tsukuba R. 44-27 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Toyota Alvark especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Richard Solomon (208-92, college: California, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, college: Washington) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Juan Pattillo (201-88, college: W.Kentucky) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tsukuba R.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-4 record. Tsukuba R. lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 29 lost games. Toyota Alvark will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya in the next round where they are favorite. Tsukuba R. will play at home against Toshiba Thunders (#5) and hope to win that game.
