Regular Season Round 19: San Salvatore - Vicenza 36-69

There was no surprise when 8th ranked San Salvatore (8-11) was outleveled at home by third ranked Vicenza (13-6) 69-36 on Saturday. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding San Salvatore to just 6 points in first and second quarters and to 12 points in first half. Vicenza held San Salvatore to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded San Salvatore 58-39 including a 47-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Emanuela Ramon (187-82) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 25 rebounds. The former international guard Anna Zimerle (172-76) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Vicenza's coach Aldo Corno felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) answered with 11 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Laura Palmas (170-89) added 6 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for San Salvatore. Vicenza maintains third place in A2 with 13-6 record having eight points less than leader Broni. San Salvatore at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Vicenza will face Pordenone (#7) at home in the next round. San Salvatore will play against the league's second-placed Team Crema and hope to win that game.
