Regular Season Round 18: Artemisa - Ciego de Avila 72-74

A very close game took place in Artemisa between Ciego and Los Toros. Second ranked Ciego (10-3) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Los Toros (6-12). Ciego managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Ciego shot 23 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Los Toros only scored six points from the stripe. Center Yoan Haity scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) chipped in 17 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Joice Daudinot (194-85) with 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international center Humberto Garcia (203-85) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ciego have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Despite that victory Ciego went down to third position due to points difference. Loser Los Toros keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Ciego will meet at home Pinar (#5) in the next round. Los Toros will play against the league's leader Capitalinos and hope to secure a win.
