Regular Season Round 18: Villarrobledo - Real Canoe 66-70

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Real Canoe (9-6) won against on the road 12th ranked Villarrobledo (4-10) 70-66 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Villarrobledo won fourth quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Canoe shot 22 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Villarrobledo only scored four points from the stripe. Villarrobledo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Richard Nguema (191-88) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. American guard Marquiz Baker (188-89, college: Alcorn St.) replied with 22 points and his fellow American import center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Villarrobledo. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Real Canoe moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Azuqueca. Villarrobledo lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Real Canoe will face league's second-placed Quintanar on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Villarrobledo will play against Real Madrid II (#7) and hope to win that game.
