Fourth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (7-10) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (3-16) 100-99 in the fight for the fourth place. Saigon Heat dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Mono Vampire's 52. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) helped adding 24 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 7 blocks and Clevland Melvin produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Five Saigon Heat and four Mono Vampire players scored in double figures. Mono Vampire's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saigon Heat maintains fourth place with 7-10 record. Defending Thailand champion Mono Vampire keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Saigon Heat will play against bottom-ranked Pilipinas Agilas (#6) in Mindanao in the next round. Mono Vampire will have a break next round.
