Regular Season Round 18: Ourense - Gijon 82-64

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Ourense (7-5) beat at home 9th ranked Gijon (3-8) 82-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ourense. Gijon was better in fourth quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ourense forced 24 Gijon turnovers. It was a good game for forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Amir Valcarcel (201-93) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Ourense players scored in double figures. Forward Jorge Escapa (198-92) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and forward Pablo Diaz (203-86, college: Bethel, TN) added 14 points in the effort for Gijon. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ourense have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A-B. Gijon at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Ourense will face Rosalia (#11) in Santiago de Camp. in the next round where they are favorite. Gijon will play at home against Naron and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
