Regular Season Round 18: Guantanamo - Villa Clara 87-79

Round 18 in LSB means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Guantanamo where host Guantanamo (6-9) beat league's leader Villa Clara (11-5) 87-79 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Villa Clara. The best player for the winners was swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) who scored 24 points. Guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Guantanamo players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Osvaldo Perez who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) added 25 points respectively. Guantanamo maintains sixth position with 6-9 record. Villa Clara at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Capitalinos who have the same record. Villa Clara will play next round against strong Tigres trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Guantanamo will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Santiago on the road.
