Regular Season Round 18: Estudiantes L. - Betanzos 87-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Betanzos' (2-11) road loss to tenth ranked Estudiantes L. (4-9) in Lugo 73-87 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Estudiantes L.. Betanzos was better in third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for guard Jose Antonio Lopez (190-96) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Antonio Seijo (193-81) added 14 points in the effort for Betanzos. Betanzos' coach let to play eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Estudiantes L. moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B. Loser Betanzos keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Estudiantes L. will face league's leader Agustinos-Eras in Leon in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Betanzos will play at home against the league's second-placed Vigren (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
