The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Marinos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Marinos defeated 4th placed Guaros in Puerto La Cruz 91-83. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guaros won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Guaros 36-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Marinos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Spanish center German Gabriel (207-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Marinos' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Tyshawn Taylor (191-90, college: Kansas) added 15 points in the effort for Guaros. Five Marinos and four Guaros players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Guaros at the other side keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
