Regular Season Round 19: Santiago - Guantanamo 86-84

Important game to mention about took place in Santiago. Eighth ranked Santiago (5-11) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Guantanamo (6-10) 86-84 on Tuesday evening. They outrebounded Guantanamo 47-34 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) helped adding 12 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Rafael Favier (179-89) responded with 27 points and 4 assists and guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Santiago have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 5-11 record. Guantanamo at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Santiago will again play against higher ranked Guantanamo (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guantanamo will have a break next round.
