Regular Season Round 8: Pres.Valceslau - Sampaio 52-65

Date: February 18, 2016
Bottom-ranked Pres.Valceslau (0-12) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to second ranked Sampaio (10-2) 65-52 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Sampaio. Pres.Valceslau managed to win second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international center Nadia Gomes Calhado (193-89) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Karina Jacob (187-85) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Karen Gustavo (177-84) produced 15 points and Silvinha added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Sampaio have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Corinthians. Pres.Valceslau at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Sampaio will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pres.Valceslau will play against Maranhao (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
