Second Stage Round 7: Ezerunas-Karys - Nafta-Uni. 92-79

Bottom-ranked Ezerunas-Karys managed to get a tenth victory. This time they won against ninth-ranked Nafta-Uni. in Moletai 92-79. Nafta-Uni. was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Ezerunas-Karys made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Ezerunas-Karys outrebounded Nafta-Uni. 37-25 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nafta-Uni. was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winning side. Guard Erikas Kubilius (191-95) came up with 23 points and 5 steals and forward Raidas Nacius (196-91) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Nafta-Uni. in the defeat. Four Nafta-Uni. players scored in double figures. Ezerunas-Karys (10-22) moved-up to thirteenth place. Nafta-Uni. at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Rasai. Ezerunas-Karys will again play against higher ranked Nafta-Uni. (#10) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nafta-Uni. will have a break next round.
