Regular Season Round 23: Chemnitz - Hamburg 77-81

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Hamburg (13-10) defeated on the road 9th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (11-12) 81-77 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BV Chemnitz 99 won third quarter 27-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hamburg won last quarter 18-16. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Ivorian guard Bazoumana Kone (190-93, college: Bremerhaven, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 12 points. Four Hamburg players scored in double figures. American forward Greg Logins (203-88, college: Canisius, agency: HMS) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hamburg maintains fifth place with 13-10 record. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Hamburg will face Bayer Giants (#15) in Leverkusen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play on the road against Nuernberg (#7) in Nurnberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
