Regular Season Round 20: Scrivia - Marghera 53-59

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Scrivia (5-15) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Marghera (9-11) 59-53 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Marghera dominated on the defensive end, holding Scrivia to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Scrivia was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Erika Striulli (170-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Clara Chicchisiola (183-99) who added 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Center Clara Salvini (180-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and forward Clara D'Amico (180-82) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Marghera moved-up to seventh place in A2. Scrivia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Marghera will face higher ranked Milano (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Scrivia will play against Costa Masnaga (#9) and hope to win that game.
