Regular Season Round 19: Leon - Mieres BVM 73-83

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Leon (7-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Mieres BVM (10-4) 83-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 44-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Brazilian Rodrigo Goncalves (200-87) fired 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Mieres BVM players scored in double figures. American forward Wykevin Bazemore (193-93, college: Winston Salem) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and guard Diego Mallou (180-94) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Mieres BVM moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with Grupo Inec Z. Loser Leon keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Mieres BVM will face Betanzos (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leon will play against Ourense (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
