Regular Season Round 19: Nishinomiya S. - Aishin SH 69-96
Date: February 21, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Hyogo where 11th ranked Nishinomiya S. (8-26) was rolled over by third ranked Aishin Sea Horses (24-10) 96-69 on Sunday. The game without a history. Aishin Sea Horses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 48-27 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aishin Sea Horses made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) helped adding 22 points. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the other American import center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) scored 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains third place with 24-10 record having six points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Nishinomiya S. at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 26 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nishinomiya S. will play against Dragonflies in Hiroshima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
