Recanati led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Recanati outrebounded Matera 48-29 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American guard Adam Sollazzo (198-90, college: E.Tenn.St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Recanati players scored in double figures. Czech center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, college: Iowa St., agency: Interperformances) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and guard Gianni Cantagalli (195-88) added 9 points in the effort for Matera. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Recanati maintains fifteenth place in A2 with 5-18 record. Loser Matera keeps the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Recanati will face higher ranked Bondi Ferrara (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Matera will play against Legnano (#14) in Castellanza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
