Regular Season Round 40: Niigata Albirex - Aomori Watts 84-75

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Aomori Watts (15-21) lost on the road to third ranked Niigata Albirex (24-12) 84-75 on Sunday. Aomori Watts trailed by 19 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 28-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-84 at the end of the game. Niigata Albirex had a 45-30 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Chris Oliver (201-85, college: Radford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import center Alif Bland (203-89, college: Roberts Wesleyan) added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Aomori Watts lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 21 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Sendai 89ers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aomori Watts will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#6) and hope to win that game.
